Sleep Deprived.

So. Tired. Bleh.

I wish I had some cool workouts to write about but the only thing I've done since Saturday is 10 minutes of Pilates yesterday morning before working sixteen hours (inventory day).

Sleep has not been a priority lately. I got about 5 hours of sleep last night which is terrible for me. I usually get 8-9 hours. I definitely felt it today. As soon as I got into my car to go home I started crying. Other than feeling overwhelmed at work like usual, nothing was wrong, I just needed a nap. When I came into the house Eric could tell I was sad and immediately jumped up for damage control. It wasn't long before I was asleep in my giant bed. So comfy. However, a 90 minute nap was not enough so I'll be back in bed early tonight.
I had every one of these symptoms.
Eric made a deal with a friend and his end of the deal consisted if working out with his friend 6 days a week for 3 months. He can only miss 3 days! I'm excited for him to get into this habit! A habit that is good for his health and great for me because I get a gym buddy! It's ironic though that usually I would love to go to the gym with him at any chance but the first 2 days of his new deal I've missed out on the opportunity to be his gym buddy. Tonight I just didn't feel like I should go workout since I'm already run down. I need to rest more than workout as I rest and prep for the marathon THIS Saturday.
Here he is leaving to the gym as I sit on the couch-I'm not exactly sure what he is mad about right here but it's probably because I'm not going with him :)

As soon as he left to the gym I ate cookies because that's pretty much all I had in my cupboard and I'm too tired to cook. I did put some brown rice in the rice cooker but it wasn't done yet.
These cookies are AH-MAZE-ING! And they are clean - organic almond flour and organic evaporated cane juice!

Training, Life, and Love.

Hey blog world! I've been so darn busy lately. Work is consuming me and all my time away from it just allows for me to eat, sleep, spend a little time with Eric and marathon train. Speaking of marathon training... I'm currently on the upswing of my training. I've been doing more cross-training, increasing my mileage and despite a yucky, boring 16 mile long run on Saturday, I've changed my attitude towards running. I've turned my frown upside down. I'm still working hard to accomplish my goals but I'm not placing so much pressure on myself. Now I'm able to find more satisfaction from the early mornings, two-a-days and other joys of training. Here's a few pics from life lately...
16 miles on a new trail.
After listening to the audiobook Pride and Prejudice during my running and other workouts these past couple of weeks I had to watch the BBC 6 hour version. Such a classic. I can't help talking like them in my daily conversations. "Such a trifling matter, I dare say!"
Working on increasing my short distance speed... my 1 mile PR was 7:02 last week! Also, I've been consistent in dedicating 1 day a week to challenging leg exercises and it's really paying off!
Playing with my niece Marlee <3
Jumping on the tramp and planking away.
Date night with this guy and this sunset!

Anniversary Re-cap

I did a great thing Wednesday. I took a day off work! Eric and I decided for our 4 year wedding anniversary we were going to keep it low key. He worked and I slept in. First thing I did once I woke up was dressed in my running clothes and gear (minus my running watch) and headed out the door for a 4 mile pace run. It was great taking a break from my Garmin. I just ran at a pace that felt "fast but not too fast." The weather was gorgeous too. *sigh* After a sunny run I headed to a 12pm yoga class.

This place makes me so happy.

That yoga class was just what I needed. After the class Eric met me for lunch at Noodles where I got the whole grain Tuscan Linguini (my favorite) and Eric got the Truffle Mac n' Cheese (my 2nd favorite). Lunch was not enough for our special anniversary day, we had to get dessert, and it had to be our favorites. Eric took me to Red Mango (ohmygosh the White Peach yogurt with white chocolate chips - Heaven), and I took Eric to Chili's for the Chocolate Molten cake... oh boy. Sometimes, you just gotta enjoy life!

Later that night Eric was feeling a little bit of a cold come on so the plan was to grab some food to bring home and just hang out, but then our spontaneous friends Joe and Olivia decided they were going to pick us up and take us to dinner. We went to Cubby's because Eric and I were both totally craving they're sweet potato fries. But then guess what? They didn't even have any fries! It was so sad, but then the whole night turned around because the dinner date was a set up in order to sit me down and surprise me with the idea of taking a friend trip to NYC in May! I was surprised and excited. We bought our tickets after dinner and set some plans in stone. I can't wait for Eric to see New York for the first time. Yay! I'm also so excited to run in Central Park!

Year 4.

Gotta document this day, it's our 4 year wedding anniversary! April 3rd 2009 was such an awesome day. I love being married to this guy. He makes me laugh, a lot! I'm not going to go on and on about love love love and how perfect Eric is for me (cause he is). I'm just going to post this video for your viewing entertainment and then I'm going to go run 4 miles.

Happy anniversary E!

Weekend Review

This past weekend we...
Went on a dinner date. Just us two. I can't remember the last time that happened. It was wonderful. :*

On the way home from dinner Eric made a quick stop at Animal Ark (he does this a lot) to look at the little puppies or kittens they have in the front window. I just sit in the car because it's too hard for me to window shop. I want a puppy SO BAD!

Saturday morning Mother Nature played her usual yearly trick where it snows the beginning of spring just when you think it's warming up. It was too wet, too cold and I was too much of a wimp to run in that yuck so I headed to the gym where I would spend 2 hours on and off (cause I got bored) of a treadmill. Not only is it super boring but I'm pretty sure treadmill running is harder than a normal street or canyon run. It's like you've got somebody constantly telling you not to stop and that's annoying. Anyway, it was hard so I really did not like my Saturday long run and that's all I'm going to say about it.

I hate to admit it sometimes but I don't make dinner very often. I'm just too busy with work and when I'm not working, I'd rather workout than slave over the stove. Sometimes when I have some extra time I'll get the cooking bug and Sunday was one of those days. I made this delish lasagna and because it doesn't happen often, I get so proud of myself so I make sure to take lots of pics. I made some whole wheat "breadsticks" but they tasted more like biscuits so no picture of those 'cause I'm not so proud of that.

After a total carb fest for dinner we went on a brisk walk in our matching sweat pants and ghetto sock and shoe combo. It was beautiful and sunny out but so cold. We didn't even work off 5% of what we ate but it was still nice to be outside together for a few minutes and sometimes I think that is more important.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!
