Eric's 20Eighth Birthday

It's been a little while but I need to document this...
I made Eric's favorite pudding cake and put 10 candles on it... ?
Don't ask why he is wearing a robe here.

Playing our favorite game with friends... can you guess what it is?
I love surprising people so Eric's birthday is always a great time for me to do this.
This year's big surprise was a weekend getaway to Las Vegas. I booked us a room in the Rio Resort in September and had the hardest time keeping it a secret for two months!
(I got some of these pictures from my friends Courtney and Olivia)
For some reason the video I have isn't uploading so I'll just have to tell you...
As a bonus surprise for the birthday weekend our friends joined us the first night as we got to our hotel. They followed us to our room and when Eric went to use the restroom I let them into our room and when he came out they all tackled him. He had no idea what was going on so it kind of freaked him out and thought somebody was attacking him in our room, haha. He loved the surprise though and was excited to see them.
After joining up with friends we headed to Grimaldi's -- a group favorite. We all love this place and always go together on our trips to Vegas. We went twice on this trip for the bday boy.

Eric and a resort worker named Eric. :) + enjoying his favorite meal at his favorite restaurant.
The whole gang at Caneletto Restaurant in the Venetian -- go there!
Another favorite restaurant of Eric's is Hash House a Go Go. We stopped there on the way out of Vegas. The portion sizes are huge so Kiarra and I shared 1 single mango coconut pancake, yum!
We love sleeping pics.

A big thanks to all our friends who came to Vegas and made this trip so much fun!

A Great Weekend

Welp, I worked out for the first in nine days today. What?! I dunno I just decided I wasn't going to workout until I wanted to. Today I wanted to. I did 30 minutes of Insanity with my sister and then we were done.

It was really nice to spend time with family this week. My sister Shenelle flew in from California Friday and we surprised my other sister Larissa at work. She had no idea we had been planning for a couple weeks for Shenelle to come out for her (Larissa's) baby shower that weekend.
I didn't get many pictures from the shower. It was a brunch held at my in-law's house. Shenelle helped me make an awesome menu full of the most amazing buttermilk pancakes. We also had eggs & spinach quiches, and yogurt parfaits.
Larissa got a lot of great stuff for her baby boy. I can't wait for him to make his debut in my world. I'm already so in love with him.

A few of the Salcido girls. Thanks to my niece Libby for capturing this pic. It's blurry but it gets the job done. :)
After the baby shower we headed to the temple to join cousin Hannah as she went through for the first time. It was a beautiful day up there!

From the temple to Cafe Rio to Oddessy Dance Theater's Thriller with my sisters and cousins.

It was a great weekend. I'm sad they had to say goodbye today.

Weekend Rundown

Another busy weekend has come and gone.

Eric and I joined a softball team a few weeks ago and so Friday night we had our last game before the tournament starts next week. Unfortunely, we're going to have to miss our first tournament game since we'll be in St. George Friday night prepping for the marathon. After softball we hung out with our friends who came to watch. We have cool friends.
That night I could not sleep, yet I was so tired. However, my mind was so hung up on all the things I have going on with work and then once it switched to the marathon I almost had an anxiety attack thinking, what have I gotten myself into?? Somehow I was finally able to calm myself down and eventually fall asleep, but I only got like 4 hours of sleep. I am pretty much worthless on less than 6 hours.

When I woke up Saturday morning I was not sure if I could run... Or maybe I just didn't want to and was making up lots of lame excuses. I was so tired but I convinced myself that I needed to run that day not for the physical preparation but mental confidence it would give me. So I did 8 miles then went to work at our new store opening all day.

I met up with Riss after work for Women's Conference, shopping and sushi. We tried a place we'd never been before called Teru Shushi. Yum!
Now here's to my final few days of tapering. On the schedule: sleep, eat, sleep, repeat!

41 Hours with My Sister

Shenelle and I like to joke when we talk on the phone, she says "can you come over tonight?" I say, "sure! See you in a couple hours!" Then we both cry a little inside and out because it's not really happening and we miss each other so much!

This weekend that wasn't the original plan but it's kind of what happened.

I had a scheduled flight to visit her for her birthday from Friday to Monday and was bugged, yet not entirely surprised that my Friday flight was cancelled (I was already a little bit weary of this whole flying out of the Provo airport deal) and rescheduled for Saturday. That meant less than a 48 hour trip but I didn't care, totally worth it! And  worth the free voucher to do it again too! I was happy to at least be there on Sunday for her birthday.
Shameless selfie in the airport bathroom.

We didn't take a ton of pics together, and we usually don't because our time mostly consists of food and constant snuggling and nobody wants to see repeated pics of that! My sisters and I are all close and obsessed with each other so we're often found holding hands and cuddling, especially when we don't get to see each other a lot.

In addition to all the sister love, this trip included Indian food in Berkley, The Coit Tower in San Francisco, more Indian food at the farmers market in Palo Alto and shopping and a birthday dinner in San Jose. Dang! We covered almost the whole Bay Area in a short visit. Go us!

Streets of Berkley
Two of my faves

She didn't know I was really taking pics :)
Alcatraz
Finally ate our club 33 chocolate we'd been saving since Disneyland 1.5 years ago haha it was gross!
Duh!
Fresh herbs at the farmers market.
Had my fair share of fresh concord grapes
I have expensive taste and always manage to fall in love with the most expensive item in every store. I need to stay away from Nordstrom

Now I'm on the plane heading back to Utah. It sure is hard to keep up the motivation to eat healthy and workout when traveling, even when it's only a couple days. Luckily, Shenelle understands how important it is and she makes a healthy lifestyle as much of a priority as I do so yesterday we practiced yoga together and this morning she made me a shake and sent me with some healthy travel snacks which included an apple, Clif Bar and kale chips. It also helps when you travel to a place that is a meca for health food.
Stay hydrated! Even if it costs you $3.50 at the airport-- see, I always mange
to find the most expensive item.
Now let's hope these Kale chips give me super powers to carry me through today's work and some speed training tonight.
