However, it is possible to allow exercise to be your anchor in combating stress. Through the challenge of exercising, you not only feel stronger, but have a greater sense of control through a hard time when you feel like you can't control anything.
Here are some strategies I found for combating stress with exercise:
1. Exert yourself in whatever way you can manage
2. Fulfill a weekly goal rather than stressing about a specific day
3. Build in daily activity
4. Try a quick fitness class -- social interaction can help combat stress too!
5. Go for a walk in a place you love
